US prisons are inhumane compared to the way that liberals think that prisoners should be treated.

They are, however the most humane prisons in the world (where every prisoner has the right to cable tv)

In my opinion, they are too humane, they are supposed to be PUNISHMENT, not a resort.

An interesting question! It could be argued that all prisons are inhumane because they deprive individuals of their liberty/ ability to make decisions etc. Indeed Toch (Criminal Justice Review Vol 3 No 2 1978) suggests that 'humane custody is a myth, because it is a paradox'. Correctional officers do have the discretion to act in ways which can facilitate more humane custody.

NO the bathrooms are not unsanitary unless the inmate wants it that way. They are provided soap and bleach to clean with. Inmates do not deserve privacy. The sexual behavior is not as bad as the movies make it out to be either. They have far more rights than you and I do so lets not give them anything else.

So, if you go to prison you should be given your own room, and have a maid clean the room for you? It's prison, I believe the idea of prison is it is supposed to make you pay for the crime you committed. Your question sounds like you think that we should reward a person for being convicted of a crime. I think as long as they have a roof over their heads and given 3 square meals a day than there are more than humane than the thousands of poor and homeless people in the US .

For me, it's not lack of privacy or sanitation (which I think is probably fairly clean) -- I think it's over-crowding.
Prisons designed to hold say 10,000 are holding 25,000. Just like any animal, territory is a huge issue and effects the mind as well.

On the whole, US prisons are incredibly liberal.

in my opinion they are to humane. They need to get back to the old ways....chain gangs and such...take away tv, radio and the like....It is supose to be punishment....I have heard stories of homless people commiting crimes so they will get thrown in jail....3 hots and a cot for them....ONe other thing I think we should do, i make inmates pay for their time there....add it to their fine or something..
