Always have a nurse in the room. If they don't offer ask them. They should be doing this anyway.

omg! Usually a gyno will tell you what they are doing prior. A checkup is pretty routine so if there is anything beyond what is in a routine check, they should tell you before and should warn you what they are doing during. If it is inappropriate it would make you feel uncomfortable (relative to the rest of the exam) and you can ask your doctor to stop, explain that you don't like what he or she is doing because you feel to uncomfortable. A good doctor will respect your space.

read up on a typical gyno exam. go to tampax.com or something. i think there's a section on women's health that will give you an overview of what to expect at a dr. visit. if you know what to expect, you can better guage if the doc. is doing something out of the norm.
i mean, my doc. and i make small talk. we joke sometimes but nothing inappropriate. i'm just that kind of person, though. it helps make me feel a bit more comfortable if he's not quite so clinical.

First let me state that you should have a Ob gyn Dr from the Age of 13 and up that way you can become familiar and comfortable with whats going on ,With that said the Dr should have a female in the room with him if he is a male you can ask for this if you dont see a assistant with him. 2 the Dr should not be doing any thing sexual with you this means he should not be playing with your ummm play things 4 he may need to do test ASK HIM WHATS HE DOING AND WHATS ITS FOR!!! he should not be puting his hands in there for not more then a exam this means he should not be puting just his hands he should be useing a vag spectrum if your not sure have him stop and explain in detail whats going on and if you still dont feel rigth dont do it

Should be very clinical and relatively quick. I have never experienced anything inappropriate or that seemed that way.
