Get Tetras. They are great starter fish. They don't last long ( Not people's fault...they actually don't have a long life span) and they are really easy to take care of. They are cheap and social so get a bunch. You can really decide if you want to get into the responsibility. Then get a saltwater tank. They are awesome. For saltwater tanks start with clownfish.
If you already have a tank get some sharks or plecos. You can actually get quite close to to them do to their human-like emotions.

you have various thoughts here. many times the guideline of thumb is a million inch of fish in keeping with gallon of water. Now of course there are exceptions to this rule besides the indisputable fact that it quite is many times maximum suitable if it truly is your first tank first of all it. don't be fooled by a small fish some can improve quite super, over 12 inches in many circumstances, those are actually not the fish for you. Fish can and could outgrow their tank. do no longer understand the person length of a fish? DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE. constantly evaluate fish swimming point besides, do no longer over crowd the single area of the tank, many times unfold it over the astonishing, center and backside. some fish that would tournament your tank are: Zebra danio (max out at a million") (shoaling fish which potential 3+ fish is a thank you to pass) Neon Tetra (max out at a million") (education fish, which potential 3+ fish is a thank you to pass) Cory Catfish (max out at 3", even nevertheless i've got had some journey with 4"-ers) Dwarf Gourami (max out at 3-4") (one in keeping with tank max, they're a territorial fish) Mollys/Platys (max out at 4" some smaller) different tetras (examine the variety, yet all are education fish) stay far off from semi-aggressive and aggressive fish, besides as cichlids. savour your tank! Cheers.

First, lose the caps. lol. jk. Well, it doesn't just depend on how big your tank is, it also depends on how responsible you are, and how much you can afford. Fish equipment can be expensive, but lets get into the types of fish. Well....you can have a bunch of little fish like, many female bettas, or many cichlids. Just go to http://www.petco.com/CareSheets/CareSheets.aspx?&Nav=154. For more info, email me or IM me.

get african cichlids. they are very good, easy fish. they are also the closest relative to the piranha. if you do get them you can't have any other type of fish or they will eat them. although you can have pleco (algae eaters), they tend to not bother them. there are many different subspecies so you can have all kinds of colorful fish. and don't mix african cichlids with any other type of chichlid either. they will kill it. good luck
