What changes have college students made since their parents, and grandparents started social movemnts ? What is the most important social movement and orginizations that college students join in presently, compared to years ago? Please be clear, in depth, and provide scholalry links. Thanks

I think its a good question. I would say that its a different time. Many of the social movements that started in the 60's & 70's have become institutions in the 90's and 00's.

There simply isn't so much of a need to create new groups to cover new topics, yet. We're still working through many of the same issues today such as race, gender issues, sexuality, war, governmental abuse of power, etc.

We just need a little more time before these 'separate' issues gather together and form a platform for a major new political party, as is the natural maturity of such things.

As time passes and new issues come up, there may be more grass-roots movements and revolutions yet to come. (e.g. sentient robot rights, space exploitation, genetic cleansing, etc.) No joke, that's the way of things.

Not like in the past, no. The nearest thing I would be able to point out are things like Gay-Straight alliance clubs seen on the majority of large college campuses today, but they don't come close to the rallies and protests of yesteryear.
