Nothing would happen to American society- it would be a huge change in what political parties would have to do to get the message of what they stand for. Democrats have a slight advantage in so much as they will still have the news media monopoly, but Democrats would have to find a new method for their fund raising campaigns (unless a celebrety is involved).

Face it: the Democrat party represents more small "special interest" groups than the Republican party. I'm not suggesting Republicans dont have any, just not near as many.

I think we would be a lot better off. A true democracy doesn't cater to the wants of a few, but to the needs of the majority by vote.

We'd be violating the first amendment. They have a right to speak. Funding may be the key to lessen their influence. Personally I think a constitutional amendment requiring term limits is a possible solution.

I think it would infringe upon our freedom of expression. We all have the right to lobby congress, to expressour views to our elected officials. Special interest groups just do it in an organized way, and represent more than just individuals.
