If it is still under warranty, you might be able to get another fan. If not, you can just buy another fan and replace the one that is currently installed on it.

if u said the fan is making noise then for sure the bearing in the fan is broken or something. it's not generating enough air flow to cool down the processor so ur card will be very hot even if ur PC is idle. if u can get a new fan, exact same as da original 1 or 1 with same size & same voltage then u can still use dat card. else, u can opt for a new cooling solution. u can try getting an aftermarket heatsink+fan which will cool ur card much better than the original fan. if u r not sure what to get then u can start from cooler master. they got plenty graphic card cooling solution. ur PC crashes cz when u play graphic intensive games, ur graphic card needs to render lots of serious details & when processing increases so will the temparature. when the temparature pass the threshold ur graphic processor will halt a moment to cool itself & will resume when the temparature falls below the threshold. hence when the processing stops, no rendering is done and ofcourse ur game can't carry on & there goes ur crashed PC... hope this help....

Look at the fan that is on the video card, and see if there is any model number. If not go to google and type in geforce (Its geforce, not geoforce) FX 5500, model number of your fan, and type fan. If there is no fan number, go to google and type in geforce FX 5500 fan. If non of that stuff works just buy a new one. You'll really benefit from it.

It seems that the games are much stronger and need more processing than the vga card is capable of .. try to reduce the graphics level in the games .. specially anti aliasing
