Maybe, and maybe not. The size of the explosion has been reported as equivalent to 550 tons of TNT. If this was a nuclear weapon, it was a dud; the first three US nuclear explosions each yielded more than 10,000 tons of TNT equivalent explosive power. A 550 ton explosion could have simply been a chemical explosion set off to impress the gullible. Stay tuned.

We are trying to still find out whether or not it's a nuclear bomb. Nuclear weapon does not have to be high yield explosive in North Korean's case. The purpose of test was to show to whether they can use nuclear bomb. If key signature of seismic mathces the pattern of typical nuclear explosion, then they have confirmed nuclear weapons. My guess is that most likely they have a nuclear weapon following reasons.

1. Obviously they warned of nuclear bomb testing, Allowing countries all over the world to monitor and record.

2. If they explode one, then obviously people will record the seismic waves and analyze the explosion.

3. If they know and predicted above two, they will declare as a nuclear state in which they did.

Their leader Kim Jung II, is a nut case! In the late 1990's, President Clinton and our Congress, gave this ******, $4 BILLION of our tax dollars, to be used only for uranium enrichment for peaceful purposes, specifically to
build power plants, so the people could heat their homes etc. North Korea is a place where you would only want your worst enemy to live!
The country spends 90% of it's gross national
product on the army, defense, making rockets and weapons, shipping some to other countries etc.The people are starving! North Korea is one of the biggest slums areas in the world, while South Korea, looks a little like New York City with tall office buildings, nightclubs etc. This latest trick, is just another way to get money from other countries,to "guarantee", that they will not use uranium for A-Bombs. They want billions of more dollars "to help their people" (joke). That little fat idiot, will stop at almost nothing, to extort money from the rest of the world. The C.I.A. should be dispatched over there to take a "head-shot". Oh, I'm sorry, we don't do that anymore! Our government thinks they may have 6-10 A-bombs. Luckily, they don't have long range rockets to hit the U.S.A.,
although, approximately 37,000 U.S. troops are
still stationed in South Korea. The war has never ended! Technically, we still are at war with them- just a truce (ceasefire) was negotiated in 1953. I feel sorry for our troops in
South Korea, because I know they are on high alert and are scared to death. North Korea has about ten thousand rockets already aimed at the South. I know what it feels like to be on high alert there, because I was there serving in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Missle Crisis. It was scary as hell! It's only 40 miles from North Korea to Seoul, the Capital of South Korea. (approximately the same distance as going from Baltimore to Washington D.C.) The rockets could be launched and hit targets, in just
minutes. SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!

The planet will be more polluted by radiation, innocents will be killed or born as deformed mutants, and the poor planet will take yet another hit threatening its delicate balance to sustain life.

That's all that will come out of this, for gawd's sake...

The US and the rest of the United Nations needs to play nice before they stir up the geopolitical pot and cause crap to boil. Keep the boil down, and no one shoots at anyone.
