Started this summer using a triple blade razor every other day because of how good it feels. Should I be shaving up or down the arm to keep from irritating the pit?

I always wondered how men could deal with all that long hair gunked up with deodorant all the time! Just shave in all directions - but don't keep going over it to the point where the skin is irrirated. Even if you trim the hairs, it won't be as messy as if it's super-long. Your hygiene habits are your choice, not the choice of anyone else.

You need to shave in 2-3 different directions. It doesn't matter which (up, down, left, etc.). Pit hair grows in all different directions, therefore shaving just one way won't get the job done. It's not the shaving that irritates- it's the razor you use that determines whether you'll get irritation. You can even shave without using gel/cream if the razor is really good.

And to everyone who thinks a guy keeping their arm pits tidy is gross- should know that the less hair there is- the less sweat and body odor there is. How do guys expect deodorant to work if it can't even get down to the skin where their sweat glands are?

They say shave with the grain, but I shave against it. Just don't shave in both directions. This is grosse but you asked so I'll share it... if you see someone with what looks like a pimple or two on their armpit, it's an ingrown hair. Happens to me !

Use a moisturizing shaving lotion, not soap, to shave and give it a rest sometimes. I usually shave every other day when I'm not wearing tanktops because otherwise my armpits get irritated. Dove also sells moisturizing deodorants, so if it doesn't threaten your masculinity :), you should try one. I do believe they make nonscented, too, so you don't have to smell all girly.

Since they go in all directions go up, down and sideways coming form the left and coming from the right. This will give a clean soft shave.

IT DEPENDS ON IF YOUR SKIN CAN TOLERATE IT. I DO MINES UP AND DOWN. THEN GET THE ONES THAT DECIDED THEY WANT TO JUST LAY DOWN I WOULD GO AGAINST THE DIRECTION OF THE HAIR.
