LOL this question made me grin... i have a slightly longer toe on my right foot than my left (enough to just about notice) but i cant be bothered to do anything about it, or change my body, because its a waste of an operation, and unless it causes you extreme distress or discomfort (i.e footwear, buying shoes that fit etc) then i wouldnt bother...
But you could always get surgery, it is possible of course it is, they would just shorten the bone and readjust the nail most likely, but youd have to ask your gp for advice on that. Know abotu the risks before hand though and obviousley expect a small amount of pain afterwards!
But i model, and have modelled for years, and its never got in the way of anything ive wanted to do lol... then again, it all depends on how big your toe is!

I think a plastic surgeon could do a very good job in shortening a toe. They can do almost anything.

Of course it is possible.
If you are considering it, I hope the surgeon discusses the risks of such an operation.
First, you have to be aware of the risks of ANY surgury. Plus the possibility that the results may not be what you expect. You can HOPE you will still be able to walk, run, dance on that foot, not to mention still wear heels, (if you want to).
Second, you have to weigh the pain and discomfort of the surgury against what possible benefit you might get from it.

Yes you can have operations on them but if you are woried about it i wouldnt bother because your feet are part of your identity Im certainly not going to shorten my big toe because we all have a laugh on how big it is! one time at my mates house i fell asleep and they drew a face on my toe!

It is possible
I saw a program on it and other plastic surgerys for the feet.
It was quite nasty watching it, but all of these woman were happy with the end results.
And it was done as a cosmetic procedure.
They also will do fat injections on different areas of the bottom of the foot, for woman who wear very high heels alot.
