The Queens head is on a UK postage stamp cos it'd just be confusing to have King or Queen of a different country on it.

Because the first postage stamp - the Penny Black - was issued by Great Britain in 1840. Invented by Roland Hill during the reign of Queen Victoria and her image was the first to appear on our Postage Stamps. As we were first to issue them, it was sufficient to only use the monarch's head to identify the country of origin. All other countries, who later began to issue stamps for postage, had to use the name of their country to identify the origin of their stamps.

The United Kingdom is indeed the only country NOT required to put the name of the country on its stamps. Also having our Gracious Monarch's portrait on our stamps, all the world knows where the stamps originate.

The Queen's head is on our stamp because she is the head of state. The only thing you will NOT find on our stamps is the name of our country. This is because Britain was the first country to use stamps!

Because ever since the modern postal service was originally developed (in the UK) the service has been known as Royal Mail - hence the reigning monarch's head appears on the mail.

More interesting trivia - it's technically illegal to stick a stamp with the queen's head on it upside down. Considered treason or something. Needless to say I always do it, anything to show how much I (dis)respect the stupid old bag.

Oh my God-I had in no way even thought-approximately it. confident, of direction i will. That stamp is all I extremely have widespread all my existence, so which you should replace it may be in simple terms incorrect. what's next-money? Notes?
