An outsiders view, I don't know if you'll like it or find it useful for your project, but here goes:
It is a country that once represented freedom, greatness, advancement, a country that had many 'rags to riches stories', the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
Slowly as technology advanced, the Soviet Union was finished, Americans stopped really looking outside and were so involved in themselves, that only what they felt was good for their economy mattered and not what was really good overall. So you had them interfering in internal matters of other smaller and weaker nations - Vietnam, Korea, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan... wherever the US intervened, that nation was destroyed, economy in tatters, lives shattered forever and the big US businesses laughed all the way to the bank. Slowly the nation lost it's conscience, and to a great extent the current president who won the first election by cheating and the second one on corpses (war) contributed to image of the megalomaniac that US now seems to portray to a major part of humanity, which is sad, for the US was a great nation, and should be a great leader instead of the bully that many in the world consider it to be. Where, how and why did you loose your way Uncle Sam?
Sad that a nation built on the pillars of freedom, on goodness, now thrives on blood of other humans, on destruction, on hypocrisy, on injustice to fellow humans. And yet, this is one of the few countries that I love and admire apart from my own.(And my country has probably more freedom for every single human, man woman or child than any other country in the world, including the US).
Life's Lovely! Love & Live LIfe!

I see the United States as a great country where we have the freedom to express our differences of opinion. I know that TV paints America as a violent place, but for the most part it is very peaceful. I have never witnessed a police shootout, which TV makes look like a daily event everywhere in America.
The United States has sacrificed hundreds of thousands of its young men and women defending other people’s rights. The United States has its fault and is in a constant debate as how to solve those problems. It is the greatest country in the world.

I was just reading this blog about what Australians thought about the US. One of their main issues was the United States having a very annoyingly, high level of nationalism. Although this can be a good thing. I somewhat agree that a high degree of nationalism can be interpreted as arrogance. If there isn't any knowledge to back up that arrogance that American might be seen as ignorant. I think it's important to be proud of where you come from, but also realize there is more than one way or best way to live.

The United States is a wonderful and diverse country. I believe in our freedoms and disagree with supression. I feel lucky we are not 3rd world. I am grateful we are not war torn. I am happy our children are not brought up with gun and rifles in there hands dancing in the street.
I may not like or agree with our leaders of government at times but I like the fact we can replace them.
Things I do not like:
I hate being lied to by the Government. I hate they think themselves above the people and can tell us what they want us to hear as if we are little children.. I hate we are reactive and not proactive. I love our troops for fighting for peoples freedoms but hate that I feel misled as to why we were there in the first place. I love the fact I, as an American citizen have the right to say whay I have said here and not have to worry about the Gestopo knocking on my door and taking me off to prison.

they America are forefathers planned and dreamed of was indeed a great Nation. and if we would have kept to those original ideals then we would be something great. but we let fools like bush widdel away at or Constitution, and strip are rights away. America has become a nation of cowards and week minded feeble invalids. we as a people can no longer think for our self we let our government tell us how were and when, then just say ok if the government says it it must be true. we even let our government tell us how to punish are children. we go to war and fight for a cause we do not believe in, but go because an idiot told us it was the right thing to do for the country. so i guess the way the united states as it is today is not the country i love but it is home.

For all it's faults, the USA is a very stable country, we are a diverse nation, with many cultures coming together as one. Though we have crime and some are intolerant, on a whole, Americans are kind and the country is very safe.
Whenever there is a need in the world, the USA is the first to respond. The entire world may hate our politics and our blind sightedness at times, but the world as a whole like our freedoms.
We are a country that was created to make ALL people equal, your only limitations in the USA are the ones you make for yourself. If you apply yourself, you can be anything and do anything.
The USA has changed the way the world runs, in it's short history it has changed the face of the map and has connected the world like no other time in history.
And for this, I will ALWAYS be an American, proud of who I am and the country that I serve. In good times or in bad, this land will always be a beacon of hope for those wanting a better life ...

The greatest idea ever thought of by men. Now it seems at though a few men can bring it down by chipping away at the only document that protects this country from itself, the Constitution. As we grow closer to a police state the Idea that is America will get lost in fear. The only way we can really protect this country it to protect the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

firstly the us did officially help in the first world war, and in the second Britain was not going to loose any way, the Canadians helped just as much.
to be the United states means a corrupt country who tries to impose
its unhealthy lazy lifestyle onto the world. I hate yanks and everything they stand for. The United states also means to be a sick society of perverts and crazy people who's children kill each other. I'm not a Muslim I just hate yanks.

Over-rated, frankly. Their most unique quality is that the people who live there are so obsessed with themselves and completely certain that they're the best country in the world, they don't even feel the need to back up the argument with anything substantial. There's plenty of great things about America, but few that you can't find elsewhere- they never seem to realise this, and it doesn't even occur to them to check!

The United States is toying with its own kind of imperialism right now. And a bit like the Roman Empire under Nero. (Right now).
