Has anyone else noticed how earholes in football helmets are no longer round? When did this change take place? Some teams still have the round earholes, but others have odd triangular-shaped holes. Is there a benefit to having different shaped earholes? Am I the only one who has noticed this?

Do you ever just watch the game or are you one of those chatterbox chicks?

this is because the old type of helmet isn't as comfortable as the new kind, the revolution, or "revo".

the old helmet was designed specifically for protection, and not comfort.

the revo is much more comfortable, an instead of having a horse shoe pad around the ear, the revo has a pad that is behind the ear

the first picture is a revo
the second is an old one.

teams still use the old helmet becasue some people have smaller heads, and the revo is too big for them. e.g, an old large helmet is larger than a medium revo, but smaller thana large revo.

yeah, dont worry thats how it always feels, unless the helmets too big. when i first put one on, i was surprised how hard it was to get on then when it was time to take off, i felt that feeling like my ears ripping off. you just get used to it, or maybe if it doesnt affect the safety level you could get smaller ear pads or take a little air out of the airpads inside the helmet. safety comes first though, so make sure its not too loose after any changes.

I think it's just the brand helmet they wear that's different.
