Many of the diamonds, gold, and other gems they wear so ostentatiously are obtained through the exploitation and killing of Africans. Yet, they continue to brag about them and wear such ridiculous things as grills and absurdly long chains encrusted with diamonds. Then they complain about how white people don't care about blacks. Shouldn't you care about your own people before complaining that someone else doesn't?
I know black people aren't the only ones, and I know that not all black people care so much about their bling, I just think this irony applies mainly to them.
I just posted this question in another category but only got 3 responses so here it is again.

The irony is that the DEMAND that we take them seriously and then dress so silly and act so stupidly. Money does not buy respect. Continuously do good deeds for the sake of helping and not for publicity and give us a reason and we will take you seriously. Goes for all people and not just one race or nationality.

I think it is funny that because I support their *** with inflated taxes, I can't afford any of the nice bling that they sport. I am a veteran, with an IRA, a home mortgage, an education and a good job; yet, because I am taxed for social programs, I am more poor than them. I actually just bought some shoes from Big 5 for $16.99. I asked the guy there if they had any for $15.99; they didn't. Too many black people are easily influenced by the popular media. Even though they think that Rap music is a way to rebel from the white man, the "White Man" employs those rappers and ultimately profits. It is sad and hopefully someday they will integrate like the Irish and Chinese did a few years after getting here.

How do you get people to stop wearing the bling .
Dentists who offer gold teeth with diamonds in them are to blame right .How about it is marketing and the ad agency who glorifies bling .
People are stupid and follow the trends .
Who started the trend and why .
Rich blacks who wanted to show off how wealthy they had become .The fancy house and car where not enough to get them any respect so they think people respect the rich and thats where they are wrong .Its hard work and raising a family that get you respected .It is carring about the community you live in and being willing to do something about it .
How many council meetings do people attend or political party participation ,that can affect your community .
Till you brcome involved in the world you live in and not just a show off you have missed the boat .
Trade in the bling for a few meetings each month and some community action and the respect you get will be earned .

Well just remember the fools, the idiots who pay to watch, listen, buy their videos, music, the sports equipment, the outrageous ticket prices. They are stupid enough to throw their money, let them flaunt the reward of being stupid to Hell with the needy, and sick and dieing brothers and sisters, they don't go to the events. One other not to forget! The African land owners the politicians and extremely RICH business owners who ignore their needy citizens. Next time you buy a diamond think about who may have died for your trinket.

Ya but its all about social status. Those blingers and the white kids from the suburbs who imitate them do not read the books and papers (on page 100, political editorials filling the other 99) where this information is found.
They are too concerned with the appearence of being better then they feel they are. Its an inferiority complex. But I think most intelligent black people realize this and are more socially concious.

So how about the redneck dead-ends walkin' around with pieces of metal stabbed through the fleshy parts of their face and genitals? Maybe that's why black people are never abducted by aliens, but rednecks are all the time. I read somewhere that last month over 1800 rednecks were abducted. The total for the year is over 20,000. They pretty much all had piercings. So go figure. (BTW Arabs slaughtered 250,000 Black Africans in Sudan and it wasn't over gold...their only crime? Not being Muslim...)

The white man thing is just a little 70's my friend. But when you don't have and you get it, you tend to over do things. I think it's stupid, but hey let them spend their money. They could probably fare better by donating the money instead of wearing it.

want to............ should....... thinking of the hate mail ill be getting........ but i saw it now i gotta answer it.......i dont think it matters if your white ,black,green,or even purple. most people in my experience care when it is convenient for them. when it will serve a purpose. and status in this country boils down to possessions. it is sad but i dont think anyone really thinks about it they just want to look like they are somebody. your question method sucks. however the point of it can be translated to every culture/creed/color. i would think that you really should have been surprised to find 3 people previously to even tag this question with even their name...seeing as how political correctness runs deep... good luck...:)
