Real Men never did. Men with self discipline and control over their emotions have never had to hit a woman. Only those who lack maturity and character need to resort to violence against the defensless.
It does still unfortunately happen. No, I've never done it. Never will; but I did get to drill a guy in the jaw after I saw him knock his own girlfriend across a mall. I know that people say violence doesn't solve anything, but I'd have to say that history disagrees.

Men still hit woman. Woman have strong will so it is
accepted less. Woman leave more often though some stay because of fear. Some just like that kind of sh_t....!
I was hit once but it was handled and later we became friends oddly enough. I have also hit men before, a few times but it was well deserved as I do not make it a practice. These days there are a lot of psycho people who could benefit from getting knocked the @*^% out.....!

There are typically two fallacies used to justify the hypocricy that a man should "NEVER hit a woman back" The first is the ridiculous notion that women are encapable of causing any "damage". This is absurd because who is to say what a man getting hit gets to consider "damage"? If you told a rape victim that she didn't suffer any real damage becuase she wasn't beat to sh!t during the attack, those same people's heads would explode with rage. Also, it only takes 3lbs of preasure to break someones nose, and even a petite woman is more than capable of exerting 3lbs of preasure and I don't know anyone who wouldn't consider a borken nose "damage". Second is the equally ridiculous notion that "retaliation is not self defense". Any defense / stratigic expert will tell you that a retaliatory strike is absolutely a measure of self defense, a retaliarory strike (even against an inferior opponent) serves the purpose of self defense by A) detering / discouraging the original attacker from a second attack and B) discouraging / detering any other potiential attackers because they saw the negative consequnces of attacking you. If a 150lbs man hits a 250lbs man and the 250lbs man hits the 150lbs man back, no one (myself included) would have any sympathy for or come to the aid of the 150lbs man, the general consensus would be that the 150lbs man should have known better and got what he deserved. But, if a 120lbs woman hits a 150lbs man, and the man hits her back, then the man is a "coward, abuser, not a real man" and should have "just walked away or tried to restrain her" and every "white knight" within earshot will be falling all over themselves to come to the "victim's" aid, all because men are so much bigger and stronger and do so much more "damage". The outrage over a man hitting a woman back has nothing to do with size, strength or "damage" and everything to do with maintaining a double standard that allows women to physically assault men with impunity.

Yes I have been hit by a man. I am not a big person, or streetwise, but in one minute flat I became all of those things. Amazing what adrenaline does. Before I knew what happened I had hit him back so hard, and kicked him out the car that he flew. That was the last time I saw him thank heavens.

Yes it still happens and allot more than what is known. Some women are embarrassed to admit to someone that they are in a abusive relationship because people say how stupid these women are for staying in such relationships. What people don't understand is that these women are beat down mentally first and over a long period of time. They begin to believe that the abuse is justified or they somehow deserve it.Some of these women live in extreme fear thinking that the next blow could be their last.I know many women that have been abused.Sadly it is more common than people believe.

I informed my husband shortly after we started dating seriously that he would only ever hit me once. We're not really the type...I mean, we don't get physical when we have arguments and aren't violent in other ways. So I assume it would never happen, even at our worst. But I guarantee, if a man ever struck me I would NEVER continue the relationship. It would be over then and there.
The same goes for cheating...it may happen once, but it will ONLY happen once. Just my rule.

I have never raised my hand to any woman, (nor been hit by any female other than my mother when I deserved it when young) and no member of our very large extended family has ever done so. A nephew, when aged about 11, once kicked his sister in the stomach, I beat him black and blue and would have willingly faced a charge to ensure that he never, ever did anything similar again.

Yes this still happens, you see the victims in hospital ERs all the time. As it so happens we also see the attackers in ER on rare occasion as well, usually suffering from gunshot wounds or knife wounds. But more often than not it's the opposite. I have never hit my husband and he would hurt himself before he would hurt me.
