It's a fact of the modern world. I'm for trading with countries that have at least basic work laws preventing abuses, and monitoring the situation regularly, in the hopes that their economies will improve and create a middle class with economic and political power. But the tariffs and duties should be "throttled" by us to not only help the workers and punish their employers, but also to protect other countries who are doing a good job of protecting workers rights, and ourselves. The balance falls somewhere in between unrestricted free trade and isolationism, probably towards the free trade side. It also helps protect US jobs, while not bankrupting the US in the process. We need to become a country that encourages R&D into high tech electronics, and manufacturing processes - realizing that we have to keep the technological edge to stay ahead of the rest of the world. That will require better education of our children and an ability to rapidly respond to change. It isn't pretty but it's true.

The real reason for outsourcing is the company owners like the USA but don't want to pay inflated wages so they can bring their products to the consumers at a price that is affordable. They get to live here and enjoy freedom while they pay workers in a foreign land much less than the greedy unions have demanded here.

Well we have outsourcing,so that major corporations can be based in the us and enjoy the tax breaks they are given, but pay nothing to have their merchandise paid by exploited people in other countries.
