Education is indeed the answer. Educated people tend to make better decisions. But pure education is nothing without the compassion towards others. Both need to go hand in hand if this world should become a better place.
The grotesquely uneducated masses of this country and of many other countries are the reason for juntas like the one in our Washington capital being able to grab power. Bush and his henchmen could have been avoided if more Americans would see through their schemes.

Nawwww, the democrats wouldn't like it. it would increase the ranks of the republicans. The dems win more when people that can't read are passed from grade to grade and given a diploma even though they couldn't sign their name. Ignorance is bliss to the democratic party so educating just wouldn't serve there purpose.
