Im 38 weeks pregnant. Sat. I had a discharge that looked like snot when I wiped. It was like the size of a fifty cent piece. Sun the same thing happened twice like snot once a little bigger than a fifty cent piece and the other a little smaller. Last night the baby seemed like she was trying to come out of my belly botton. She was very very active all night and this morning. Is that my mucus plug? How much is there? And should I be concerned that my baby is that active this late in my pregnancy?

From what to expect when expecting (page 269 if you have the book) "LOSS OF MUCOUS PLUG As the cervix begins to thin and open, the "cork" of mucus that seals the opening of the uterus becomes dislodged. This gelatinous chunk of mucus can be passed through the vagina a week or two before the first real contractions, or just as labor begins."

Just to say I lost my mucous plug 5 weeks before I every went into labor I had contractions around 36 weeks, but they shortly stopped.

It is when the activity slows down when you should worry, you should have an active baby until the contractions start to progress.

It should be a clear or whitish mucus and maybe tinged pink because of bloody show. Not green.

Yes, the discharge you had was probably part of your mucous plug. Sometimes it is noticeable when you loose it and sometimes not. A very active baby at the end of pregnancy is not anything to worry about. Even though she is getting bigger and the space is getting cramped, there is still room for her to move around. She will get herself into a comfortable position soon enough and then you will notice less movement, letting you know that labor will start soon. I don't know how much in quantity a mucous plug contains. Losing the mucous plug is an indication that your cervix is making the necessary changes needed for labor and delivery.

That's definetily a mucous plug. Your probbaly about done with it by your description. The baby being active is a good sign. I wouldn't worry about anything except that anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks from now you'll be in labor. I have a theory that the clearer the mucous the longer the wait until labor. Mine was clear snot and I had to wait 2 more weeks and I bet if they have a little blood it means your closer to the day. Just a theory. good luck.

As long as it is normal discharge color (even with streaks of blood) everything is most likely fine. Sometimes it can still be a while even after your "plug" is lost until your water breaks or labor begins. I am not an OB, but I do work in labor and delivery. If the discharge is green or has an ordor to it you should go to your OB. It is good that your baby is still active! When you feed your baby or drink juice and things w/ sugar that wakes the baby and makes her active just like it does for us! You should on the other hand contact your OB if your not feeling this activiety! Good luck!!!

your baby should still be just as active "sometimes THE MOVEMENT FEELS DIFFRENT BECAUSE THEY ARE SO BIG you may not feel hard kicks as much but you should still feel movement" in fact if you went without feeling the baby that could be a sign of REAL problems. My kids were still active even when i was in labor they still kicked. As for the plug question I'm only 28 weeks with my 3rd i have mucus discharge every few days. The plug usually has a bit of pink or red stringy blood in it or even a peachish color to it CLEAR DISCHARGE is common Thur all of pregnancy it gets more as the pregnancy is farther along. . GREEN DISCHARGE IS NEVER NORMOL it's a infection if it's green or smeels even in non pregnancy GREEN discharge is a red flag to go to the doctors!

so the discharge was green? if it was then i think that is the mucus plug and you should probably just call your dr to let him or her know. when i was pregnant with my son, i had this discharge that was clear and almost jelly like, and it only seemed to happen after sex so i let my doc know. they said as long as it wasn't red or another color besides clear then it was fine. so definitely call.
