my friend knows deep down her ex was terrible for her...he used drugs/verbally abusive...just no good! She was with him for 4 yrs so its almost like she got used to the back and forth roller coaster. Anyway, I dont want to say anything that may trigger going back to him. She keeps asking me to tell her how horrible he was and that he doesnt deserve to be with her....Ive been saying all of that...but is there anything else besides listening and being there for her that I could do?

Just be there for her if she needs you. Talk to her, but dont push her to talk about it if she doesnt want to.

you two should discovera new hobbie and envirinment that you both are unfamiliar with. it will keep her mind occupied and if what you say about him is true...make sure it's somewhere that she would never be able to do if she was still with him. but no matter what you do, remember, this is not her first break up and it wont be her last. she will get through this and thrive. when she realizes that she achieve peace within herself when she lets him go, she will be great. that person probably brought out an ugly person in her. remind her that that is not what she want to continue having bring her down for the next 4 years like she did the last 4 years

not really, it sounds like you're doing everything you can. Make sure you keep telling her how great she is. You could try to get her to start a new hobby with you, it could help keep her mind off of him.

While it's tempting to want to push her to get back out there, don't push her into dating again too soon. She's emotionally unstable and men will pick up on that and take advantage of her.

Just be there for her!!! I wouldn't try to put the X down too much it could cause Her to turn on you!!! I would tell her that She deserves better and that special someone is out there. She just has to be open for it to Happen!!! In time if She stays a way from him She will find she is much more happier.

Keep telling her. Make her write it down and hang up so she can see. I'm going through the same thing...and there are moments when I'm ready to go back...but instead I have friends who I can call to talk sense in me. It might take a while, but soon she will move on.
