If you are talking about state taxes and if you are in California AND if you are a corporation then you must pay the $800.00 per year.

I have an "inactive" Corp. in Texas. I pay no corp. taxes.
If you are not inc., you won't pay any taxes since there is no income, only on "other" income.

If you are inactive for only one year, you should file the necessary filings as required each year.
You just won't show any activity. You may have a tax if it's not permanently inactive.
And file your sales tax report as no tax due.
