My son who is 4.5 months had two seizures last Saturday, after a CT and Lp and some metabolic tests they sent us home the next day and said they would not run anymore tests until he had another because sometimes kids just have seizures. Well this past Saturday he had another, I am going to the doctor today to discuss more tests.

I was told this was common, and I am wonderingif anyone else has experienced this with their children, what should I expect today at the doctors? These were not febral seizures.

I just came back from my son's regular doctor, he has already set up an EEG for my son on Wednesday. He said we are going to do our best to find the answer. He agrees that the diagnosis of it happens was a horrible thing...but to be honest this is a first time for me so I didn't know. He set me up with a doctor he trusts and we will meet with him after the EEG on Wednesday.

Children can have seizures for multiple reasons. Obviously the doctors have not found the reason for you son's seizures yet or they would have given you a diagnosis and begun treatment. Has you son had a fever recently? Fevers are the most common reason for seizures in children under the age of 1. What about vaccines? One of the side effects of vaccines is seizures. Since the doctors have done testing, I think you can probably rule out encephalitis and meningitis. Hang in there. I know this is a stressful time for you and your family. I will pray for you.

I have never experienced this w/ my child. But I worked @ a daycare that had a 1 year old who would have seizures every once in a while. She would only have it when she had a fever. We would have to constantly monitor her temperature. When we noticed a slight fever, we would immediately give her children's tylenol. It helped to control the number of seizures she had.

Personally, I would be quite alarmed if my doctor told me there was no reason for my child's seizure. Not saying that the doctors are wrong--- but I would seek a second opinion just to be on the safe side. I always tell my husband-- it never hurts to get a second opinion.

Best Wishes:)

It doesn't matter that these doctors are from a leading center, find some doctors that are willing to help you. Good grief, get the right care for your son! Push for every test that you can afford, and I am guessing their first suspicion shopuld be that of epilepsy.
Do not leave the doctors until you have some answers.

I have not heard of children having seizures for no reason at all. If they don't give you the answers you want, or they say nothing is wrong, find another doctor! Keep pushing and pushing until its looked at and your happy with the doctor and what they tell you.

2.5 cc???? what's the suspension %? Seizure would be a side effect however uncommon. yet 2.5 cc for an 11lb puppy seems too intense. case in point a 5% suspension ought to have approx 1cc for that weight. Overdosing will reason side outcomes. Your puppy needs scientific interest (not comparable vet). Why replaced into she prescribed albon? What replaced into her prognosis?

my son is 2years old and is been having seizures for 3yrs now. You need 2 go to another Doctor and get a 2nd opion. Or if a neuorlogiest out of town go to him with your son . I know what your going threw. I didn't know what to do but to take him back and forth to the hospital/ doctor until they sent me toa neurologist in macon. He say is digaonosed with epiolosy (focial seizures).

You have a team of doctors from one of the leading children's neurology centers in the US and you're asking people on Yahoo! Answers what you should expect? You think a bit too highly of the people on here.

I would demand to see another Neurologist. That is just insane. Children have siezures not just for the heck of it. Something may be going on. Get another doctor asap.

Bullshit! Children do not just have seizures unless there is a problem. Find another doctor for you and your babys sake. Dumb doctors!
