i have a 2000 laptop with a 500mhz celeron. its already pretty fast whcih suprises me but being as its old id like to do what i can to overclock it. how dangerous of an idea is that and about how much can i overclock it without screwing it up..if it gets broken i dont get a knew one so id like to getit right the first time.

Holy Smoke!!! DO NOT LISTEN to answer #1! System mechanic is a JOKE!.

I wouldn't overclock a laptop if I were you. They do not have proper cooling. Besides, I'm pretty sure the BIOS won't allow you to. I suppose you could try using software to OC but that is lame. Celerons are not good overclockers.

dont go doing that if the systerm is fast but the safe way to make your system even more better is try this

Serious and costly DAMAGE can be caused to your CPU by over clocking your BIOS should be set to AUTO OVERCLOCK the bois then overclock the cpu if it needs to be,over clocking causes excessive heat to the cpu which can result in the cpu burning out
