London has a population of over 10,000,000. Sweden, the whole country has less than that of London.
Area wise quite a coverage, people wise. CRUSHED!

Central London is walkable in 1-hour or less (yes I have done it). It is one square mile. All of London is much bigger. However, I'm assuming you have no interest in visiting suburbs with housing only. So Central London is all you need to know. Everything is totally accessible via the tube. In fact, most London natives will tell you you cannot walk the City because they never get off the tube even to go one block down the road and so don't know themselves!

It's not that big. It takes me 20 minutes by train to get to Charing Cross, and I live in Bromley, which is right on the edge of Greater London and Kent.
It's not as big as you might think. It may seem big when you get there, but really, it's not.
Camden Town is in North London. Look at a map, and see how far it looks from Charing Cross Station, which is on the north side of the Thames. Now, it looks fairly far. 10 minutes by bike.
It depends what you refer to as London as to its size. Are you meaning Central London? Are you meaning Greater London? Are you meaning both combined?
Central London and Greater London combined, according to WikiPedia, is 610square miles. Only one of these is Central London.

Many visitors to London have no idea of the size of the capital - it is HUGE - Greater London covers an area that is around 50 miles across (North to South and East to West) - even central London covers a vast area. To get from one side of London to center by car or public transport can easily take an hour ! Even travel by tube train in the center can take 20 mins to get from one popular place to another. Many visitors do not realise this so if you are recommend a place that is say 30 minutes from central London this is in a good position to get into London fairly quickly. The nearer you go to the center the most you accommodation will cost.

Although the ancient "City" in the centre is traditionally regarded as one square mile, the OFFICIAL land size of ALL of Greater London is 609 square miles ( 1579 square kilometers ).
As of the 2005 census, the population is just over 7.5 million.
