Its much worse than people think. I was born in 1941. The NHS began in c1947/48 - from that time on it has been under attack, esp. from the 'right', who either want to close it down altogether or privatise it by stealth.

I sent an email to David Cameron explaining to him that the NHS is the living memorial to our war dead. It was the WW2 generation of hero's and veterans who voted for it and got it started. We will remember them.

The major change is that labour have made it much more reliable,under the tories my mother had to wait 4 yrs for a knee replacement,under the labour government she had to wait 6 months for the other knee to be operated on .....

They`ve got their faults, but on the NHS they have done a bloody good job - and all you anti-Blair/Labour wimps don`t even bother to rant and rave, I`m not interested in anything you anti-British have to say!
