Being over weight or underweight, or changing you weight rapidly (losing or gaining) and keep your body from ovulating as a means to protect itself and a future baby from a hostile environment.
Stressing about not being pregnant is what keeps you from getting pregnant. Go research the adoption phenomenon. Medically infertile women who adopt and soon after bringing home the new baby become happy and content and find themselves suddenly pregnant. Stressing over not getting pregnant keeps it from happening.

Well, you're going to trust some stranger's answer on here over your own doctor? Maybe you should start seeing a new doctor.
The truth is...there are a lot of factors that go into the success of conception. So many, in fact, that it's a miracle that some people can reproduce at all. Weight is definitely a factor for the woman, but also the man. Overweight men on average, have a lower sperm count.
It really depends on HOW overweight you are. You are 165, but how tall are you? If you are 5 feet tall, it may cause an issue. If you are 5'7 or so...you're not that overweight and there are probably other variables affecting your chances of conception.

It can contribute to some problems that cause infertility, but as long as your doctor doesn't see a problem with your weight, then it shouldn't be an issue. One thing additional weight can contribute to when you are pregnant is gestational diabetes. I had it, and it although I kept it under control with diet, it was a pain because I had to go for additional tests throughout my pregnancy. Therefore, it's best to get as close to your ideal weight before getting pregnant. Don't stress out about dieting though when ttc, you don't need that added stress. Just try to make healthier choices. All healthier choices are good, no matter how small. Good luck!

Being overweight isnt a problem when trying to concieve. It actually is a problem being under in body fat. Women who have less than 11% body fat have a hard time. This is becuase a womens organs run on fat as a fuel in a way. BUT even though it will make it easier to concieve it can cause problems while your pregnant, and maybe even for the baby.

Hi,
Weight is not a direct problem.
However, an overweight person usually does not have a balanced or healthy body and it is the health challenges that may lead to the inability to concieve.
I specialize in helping people solve their health problems using detox programmes. It is possible to lose weight and raise your chances of conceiving after the detox as i have had people concieving immediately after the detox.
if you would like to find out more about the detox, please email me at verityy@yahoo.com

it depends on your body. For some people, it doesn't seem to be a problem, but for others, it can affect their ability to ovulate.
My Dr. told me that I had PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), and that being overweight can be a factor in getting it. I lost about 10 lbs. and got pregnant immediately.
just my 2 cents, but it may help. Try losing a little weight and see what happens!

Weight gain probably isn't a problem in conceiving, but it certainly isn't good for a pregnancy. You could be in for all sorts of complications. Do yourself and your baby a big favor and try to drop some pounds before you get pregnant. You will be so glad you did!

Yes, it is. I was overweight last time & took me 1 year to conceive.
Accdg to my gynae, overweight affects ovulation and thus it will be ideal to lose some weight to get the ovulation more regular.
Plus, over weight b4 pregnancy also pose danger when you pile up yr weight during pregnancy, it may lead to diabetes / hypertension etc.
So it is wise to lose some weight now, cos you want to have healthy baby with healthy mum right?

It depends on the woman. We are all different. Sometimes losing 10 pounds can make a difference if you are a little on the heavy side. Same thing goes for underweight. It won't hurt at all to lose ten pound so if you are really concerned try losing ten pounds, it can't hurt! Best wishes!

I think there have been studies done to indicate there is a relationship between fecundity and fat. That fat women have bodies that are better able to handle a pregnancy. So, yeah, go for it. Unless you're 3 feet tall. At which point I have to say, yes, you're too fat to have sex.
