I have done some web research and determined the huge piles of dirt on my beautiful lawn are from a mole: volcano like, not horse shoe shaped. In the mornings, sometimes I can see the little dirt mounds moving - so he's an active booger. So far, I have thrown gas "bomb" (they look like giant firecrackers) into his ramps and runways. Yesterday he was active and I located the hole and direction of the tunnel and stuck a garden hose in there for 1 hour. The next morning, he mounded dirt on top of the hose that was still in the hole!! He's a terrorist. What can I do?

KILL IT! We should kill all animals, especially birds that poo all over. How inconvenient for them to interfere in MY life! There is no room on the planet for anything but humans.

Letmme see if I got this right. You see them move?
Heck - you've got it made!

Take a shovel or a pitch or garden fork and jab it in just behind where the dirt's moving. A pitch or garden forks a little better, Line it up with the tines following the tunnel and try for one time in front, and the rest in the rear.
This is absolutely the best method by far!

I'd put the mechanical trap with tines second.
Same principle, but you've got to put it over an existing tunnel, that you know he's going to use, and then flatten the dirt down just enough so that he'll raise it back up and set off the trap.

In my experience, it's really hard to choose the right tunnel and get the dirt just right. If you have mutiple traps you're better off. I'd leave it a day or two, and then move it. As soon as I did that, he'd go right where I had it before.

The gas bombs work, but you have to know narrow it down to which tunnel and make sure he doesn't have an alternate route.
If you put it too far away, he can tunnel out in time.

Grab out a fistfull of dirt to one side where you think he his, shove the gas firecracker into the hole you've just made in the tunnel and then stomp the dirt back down to seal it.
Make sure you don't put out or block the gas bomb - of course...

Also, you can hook a hose up to the exhaust pipe of running engine and use that. It's slower than the gas, but it covers a lot more area (the more pollutin' the engine, the better in this case).

Certain dogs are good at detecting where they're at also (a really good dog will dig it up and catch it for you).

Water is usless - otherwise you could wait for a rain storm to kill them.

I had the same problem and tried many things, Traps wich work okay, posion again works okay but is what finally did the trick is when I put grub and insect killer on my lawn and that killed the moles food source.

That is what worked for me and I haven't had a mole since and I had the same problem you had

I'll trade your moles for my armadillos! actually, I do have moles (i think they are eating the grubs in my yard) and now, i have armadillos which dig holes about a foot deep to also get some nice snacky snacks!! Try treating the buffet and they will probably go away. Good luck!

Take comfort in knowing that his presence indicates that you have a very healthy lawn and he is busy eating his own body weight in insects every 24 hours.
Keep your sense of humour and you will survive this assault.

Land mines. If he tries to pile dirt on them, problem solved

Go get a mole trap. They don't cost too much but its not very humane and it will kill him so its your call but other wise he's unfortunately there until he decides otherwise.
