How will it help you if we give you topics? A ballad should be about something you feel deeply about.

What currently makes you happy, sad, depressed, excited, or angry? Write down some single words or short phrases that relate to that idea. Take whatever list/topic you seem to feel strongest about, and use those words to make phrases/lyrics.

Do you mean love ballads or ballads about heroes in general? If you don't have a hero or heroine in mind, maybe try Clara Barton or Joan of Arc or maybe, to be more current, write one about Philo T. Farnsworth, the inventor of television.
