You're doing the right thing by trying to stay calm. It will really get even worse if you panic.
It really gets hard to breathe during this period because your baby is getting bigger and must be giving pressure on your diaphraghm which makes you labor for your breath and may cause chest pain. Anyway, try not to lie on your back and lie on your left side so you can breath easily and it may relieve your pain.
If you dont have any previous illness that may cause this then there is no cause for alarm. But if you still feel chest pain and laboured breathing continously and it bothers you then go to the doctor and have yourself checked.
Hope I could help.

This happened to me with my 2nd - right about at 25 weeks. I actually went to the ER- they gave me nitro to make sure it wasnt a heart attack. Then I walked on a treadmill and did 8 million other tests. Long story short- it turned out tp be gallstones. Felt like a heart attack to me though. Your OB can usually confirm whether or not its gallstones pretty quick by ultrasound. For some reason, gallstones happen more frequently in pregnant women.

Get a paper bag and breathe slowly in and out and while doing this in your head think "in" when you breathe in and "out" when you breathe out. Just like talking to yourself, but not out loud. The talking and saying the word to yourself will have you consentraited on just those words and your breathing which should calm you down and help to slowly ease the panic attack.
Works everytime with me.

I have read some litterature about panic attacks. But they allways seem to have a more scientific approach and that is nothing I need in my struggle to survive those horrible panic attacks. This is a "hand on" and very practical book. I felt it was written to me. I am sure that you are going to feel the same.
Joe Barry writes exactly how I think. The examples are perfectly described. And the method is genius. I recommend this book and thanks Joe Barry for writing it. It changes your life

I would get a tight, painful feeling in my chest while I was pregnant. It got worse towards the end. I still don't know why, but my doctor said it was normal. Just remember all your organs and insides are being shifted and pushed around...you are going to feel pain sometimes.

call your obsetrician and see what they want you to do. you're probably just scaring yourself (i did the same thing a few times while pregnant) and making it worse...but be safe and call. they may want to see you or send you to an emergency room. babies can cause spikes in blood pressure --- good luck!
