Learn about "Photosynthesis" and how "carbon dioxide" is made into Oxygen and "respiration" how animals use it and the waste product is "Carbon Dioxide" (then obviosuley the cycle goes around again)

How does the carbon atom get into the plant? It takes in carbon dioxide when it respires. Then it uses the carbon atom to build its substance: celulose or plant carbohydrate. (Spot the carbo in carbohydrate? There's your atom again!) Now your animal grazes on your plant and digests the carbohydrate. As a breakdown product of digestion, carbon dioxide is produced and leaves the bloodstream via the lungs to be taken in by plants again. OR: the animal uses the carbohydrate to build protein (muscle) and when the animal dies, it decomposes and releases the carbon atom into the soil, where it is absorbed by the plant and we all start again!
Try looking up food cycles on Google or Metacrawler. Good luck!

Plants need carbon to grow . they absorb carbon dioxide CO2 and breath out oxygen O2.In animals the opposite happens, as a by product of body function is CO2.When plants are burnt they release the carbon again in the form of CO2. ancient plant/tree matter is in the form of coal and fossil fuel when burnt CO2 is emitted ,the so called greenhouse gas
