Depends on what they have to offer, what you want to contribute and possible benefits and drawbacks.

Having a group of fellow artists to exhange ideas and encouragement from is very beneficial. Critiques and planning sessions can increase the quality of your work. Socially is can also be great, because non-artists sometimes just dont understand an artists approach to things.

Unfortunaly many groups are more about the bake sales and superior attitude. Little is accomplished but they seem too cool to notice.

Also beware if an art club has a preconcieved idea of art. For example, one I attempted to participate in had trouble dealing with any 3-D work. Their idea of "art" meant it needed to be matted and hung on a wall.

Yes Art club rocks!!!! Especially if you like art, or if you like someone in art, or if you like to look at art...
