People seem to forget that we are the major player in the U.N.
Therefore, if the U.N. is useless, it is primarily because we have made that the case.
Certainly the U.N. has it's problems, but I love the idea that there is a place where different nations can talk to each other instead of shooting each other.
The reason many conservatives hate the U.N., I believe, is just that it is a concrete reminder that other nations with other opinions exist. They would prefer the U.S. to be the world's dictator, but democracy in any form, especially on a global scale will always be a messy business.
It will always be difficult to have so many people get along, and sometimes it'll be impossible, but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't try, and that's precisely what the U.N. does.

The UN replaced into no longer designed to be clever and appropriate in action. It replaced into basically designed to be a street sign that if a police officer (all 5 individuals of the secure practices council) observed something that threatened the lives of the folk (interior the 5 respective secure practices council countries), then he (the secure practices Council) could take action by ticketing (economic sanctions) or arresting (protection stress sanctions) the criminal. It exists so as that the skill elite are actually not jointly screwed over unexpectedly.

Since the US supplies 90% of the UN budget, we should pull out. Oh Yeah, the UN building is in the United State, too, let them find another building.
When there's trouble, all the US can do is sanctions or war. We can't sanction if the Soviet Union (I refuse to believe they disbanded), China, and France continue to trade with the nations we're trying to sanction, then call us the bad guys when we fight. Let's bring our troops home and let the rest of the world figure out their own mess.

Now Bush wants to work with the UN. I think he is running a huge deficit of goodwill, I hope many of the countries we ignored in our rush to war do the right thing and let him back in. But he'll be wearing a dunce cap and everything he says will be taken with a dump truck of salt.

No, I don't think the US respects the UN at all.He didn't respect their advice on Iraq and Im sure he will continue to ignore them on every issue they don't agree with him on. And Mr Bush's lack of respect for the geneva convention should be scary to everyone.
Oh wait do we need them now? Oh then thats different.

Our government should stop our major funding of the UN and use that money for the NATO. At least NATO will serve our own intrest. Because isn't that what matters our own Intrest.

How can the UN be of any use when principals like the US are ignoring it. How can we expect any other of the states of the world to listen?
