I bought a bass guitar from my friend but it's been stored in his basement for about a year. There was also a couple of stickers on it but when I took them off I could see the original colour where the stickers had been. It WAS a really nice white, but now it's just patches of really nice white and a kind of off white colour...any ideas on how I can restore the colour? Ive been using T-Cut at the moment but I think at this point it's either going to take me days or it's going to end up completely stripped...little help would really be appreciated!

Paint oxydises, there's nothing you can do about that, if it's just the surface then T cut would do the trick if it's deeper then you're stuck with it.

The best option would be to strip it off nad get it prefessionally re-painted - but that's not cheap, unless it's a sought after bess (old Rickenbacker) I'd be inclined to leave it and use it for gigs.

A place where they renovate pianos might strip it & re-spray it for you. You'd need to remove the pick-ups etc first. Or try the yellow pages; 'spraying' or 'spray painting' services. Tell them you want an estimate for having it stripped or sanded, then sprayed white, then clear lacquered. Good luck.
