Certain type of drunkards cannot hold their drink. All drug users and teetotallers (a kind of strange drug in itself) condemn the others, so there are no brownie points here? Just personal preferences.

Act naturally. And sitting glues to a television is hardly natural!

I drink to get a good drunken buzz. But I don't take classes. So I'm not an alcoholic (they take classes) and I'm not a social drinker (they can't hold their booze) I'm what used to be referred to as a power drinker. I can drink straight shots (Sambuca is all I drink anymore) all night long and people have a hard time telling whether I've had 1 or 10. Mostly I'm on the upside of 10. But in this PC world I guess I'm just a drunk. And I don't binge, I do this three or five nights a week. But hey I've got the Irish in my blood.

I'm an alcoholic. I used to drink 9 litres of white cider and 8 cans of super strength lager a day.
Nowerdays I rarely drink as I can not drink without getting drunk and I do not think spending a fortune on 10-15 beers and feeling ill the next day is a great night out anymore.

The main difference between the two? Alcoholics go to meetings. Therefore I am just a binge drinker. I don't have a problem with addiction, I'm merely a victim of societal expectations

I hate to say it, but I suppose that I'm a textbook binge drinker. I don't drink for weeks, sometimes months on end...then I go to a party or out in town with friends and put away more alcohol than I'm supposed to consume in a week.

Its used to be called "being sociable"...nowadays its called "binge drinking"...go figure.
