I agree with you, people just want to believe the worst about the government, look at all the "plots" involving the government since we became a nation, it gets ridiculous

People 'buy into the hype' because NORAD stood down, there was no criminal investigation, and nobody knows any more than we did before 9/11 about how to prevent another attack.

I think many are saying that if 'fanatical muslims' were involved at all, it was as decoys for the actual perpetrators.

And yes, the mainstream media has you and others convinced that the people who carried out the terror activities that day are the only people involved. "Loose Change" has never been shown on mass media outlets in this country; it is an underground production that has achieved remarkable airplay and access to people.

I'm not one to say one way or the other what happened, by whom, or why. I don't know enough one way or the other to have a solid opinion. But I do fault our government for the fact that I don't have the information that I and every citizen SHOULD have in order to make an informed opinion of those sordid events of that sad, terrible day.

Not intercepting at least three of the planes is a failure that puts the entire US military to shame. It is the non-act that will live in infamy in my opinion. Rushing the twisted steel off to scrap in China and refusing to conduct the initial investigation in a timely and professional manner is the second indictment against our government in the 9/11 debacle. What's left? I guess the only thing left is failure to apprehend and convict those responsible.

So far, no good.

The reason people buy into things like this is because the government is not up front with the people, and it has been shown that the government lies to gain power.

I personally don't know for sure if Bush & Co. did anything directly to cause 9-11, but, judging by all the evidence supplied, especially in the 9-11 Commission Report, among other sources, they were criminally negligent both in the 8 months prior to 9-11 and during the event itself.

A couple quick facts that lead me to this:

1) It is policy that as soon as it is suspected that an airplane is hijacked a military escort is dispatched to escort the plane to the nearest landing strip. Not only did this not happen, but the commander of NORAD told the Air Force to stand down and did not remove that order until after the second tower was struck. This commander was subsequently promoted by the Bush administration, rather than reprimanded.

2) 7 (I think thats the right number, it may be 9) of the 19 suspected hijackers have been confirmed as still alive. The names of these 19 suspects were also released almost immediately after the attacks, without any logical way of getting their names (flying under false names with false documentation would make it a bit difficult).

3) Our intelligence departments, and embassies, throughout the world were given very clear warnings that Al-Qaeda was about to carry out this sort of attack. These warnings didn't just come from Saudi Arabia and Egypt, but also close allies like Israel and many European nations. If everyone else knew this was going to happen, why didn't we?

And to those who would call people questioning the official story unintelligent, many of the people who are calling it into question are leaders in their field. Remember, it was once thought that the world was flat and the sun went around it. The government at the time enforced this belief so strongly that they killed scientists who said differently.

It's possible anyone could believe something that the media puts out, like the story the media has mostly put out: the story that two planes crashed into the World Trade Center and that is what caused those buildings (that were built to resist collapse in the event of a plane crashing into them) to collapse.
You speak of gullibility? How about asking questions instead. How about asking questions of the media, and demand that they have proof to back up their theories.
The World Trade Center buildings were steel frame buildings, and had a core of a grid of steel frames. Look it up, what is the melting temp of steel, and then explain how one plane managed to take out an entire building... no wait, three buildings, two planes.
I am not saying I believe the conspiracy theory that the government had a part in it, but I do think it’s possible that some individuals in government might have played a part. It is incredibly naïve to not suspect that there isn't more to the story that the media and government has fed to the public.
So people are asking questions, and they should. The public and media not only has the right to ask questions, but a responsibility.

"it just goes to show you that people will believe anything the media puts out".... exactly, and the majority of people do believe the very convenient "terrorist plot" without thinking for a second that "wait a minute, the only people who seemed to have benefitted from the whole thing is G Bush, D Cheney, etc., and not Osama Bin Laden"..... now tell me something, if Osama Bin Laden really did it, and we've been at war against terrorism ever since, why did the government occupy Afghanistan+Iraq, when we all know too well that he's hiding in Pakistan, and he's funded by Saudi Arabian princes???

There are the same people who blame the government for everything. Instead of taking personal responsibility for their own life, they take the easy route and blame the government for not providing them with a better life.

The masses are sheep and will blindly believe anything the liberal media puts out.

It is hard for the uneducated to understand the workings of the world. So they blame the only thing they know how to blame, the government.

They believe it because they want to bellieve it. I say pity them, and then ignore them.
