What campus, UH? Yes, we have a public Metro bus that you can use. True, no subways, but there's taxi cabs and a light rail. Getting a bus pass would be best (I think they offer student discounts for all different routes). Down in Houston, most of us drive our own cars so there's parking lots everywhere!

All cities in Texas has a bus system. The quality depends on the town and the area where you live.

If you are coming to the University of Texas, in Austin, there is an extensive on and off campus bus system run by the University. It is free to students (as are the local city buses) and go into areas where students commonly live.

i was in texas (houston and austin) a few weeks ago and i was offended by how bad their buses were. austin is slightly better than houston for public transportation, because the city isn't as spread out as most texas cities. but even in austin, it was pretty difficult to get around without a car. many people had bicycles, but most buses ran very infrequently and took a long time to get anywhere because of all the traffic on the main streets they go through. i hated everything about texas, personally. if you are a little bit liberal or opneminded, you will probably hate it too, but that's another topic. as far as the buses are concerned, you are going to suffer quite a bit if that is your only mode of transportation in texas.

yeah, depends on where you are. for sure no subway, but Houston & Dallas have light rail and buses. If you live close enough to campus, sure you can ride your bike, but we get pretty cold in the winter and hotter than Hong Kong in the summer...you would literally be "baking" to campus!
