I'm interested in "adopting" an animal from the wild. I see a few different places to do this from, but I'm looking for something more specific. I'd like to be able to donate money to a ONE animal in need. I'd like to be able to see that particular animal, get pictures, etc. Kind of like adopting a child in need, where someone donates money to a child and receives pictures of that particular child, a letter on what that money is going toward, etc. Is there a program that works this way?

OK
Well first you cant adopt a wild animal.. what I think you mean is that you can adopt a wild animal that is now living in a sanctuary?? Or zoo..

Be very careful what group you choose... youd be amazed how many are out there takng monies and not using them for the animals!

One good one is Tiger Haven..Big cat rescue.. they are a sanctuary for Big cats that can not live in the wild.. confiscated pets, injured etc... Really a good place

Here are some links to places we found that are good. and we check them out well!

Her eis a link that gives you a state by state listing of sanctuaries for wildlife

http://www.greenpeople.org/sanctuary.htm

Often if you use one in your state close to you ,,you are allowed to visit in person!

Good Luck!

There typically aren't programs to take care of wild animals - if there were, how "wild" would they be?

But you could ask your local zoo if they have a program where you can pay a certain fee to aid a specific animal held there. They will probably be able to give you pictures of that animal (unless camera flashes disturb or scare it) and a letter saying what the money is going toward... and you'd have a variety of species to choose from. :)
