I'm 32yrs old, and I my husband and I have a 3yr old daughter and are not planning more children. I was told by someone that a doctor can stop you or that there may be a law against having them tied with only one child. If so, does this also apply to men getting vasectomies?

Some doctors have reservations about tubals on women your age. Talk to your doctors about your wishes and if they won't help you, request a referral to one who will. Also, see if your man would get a vasectomy -it's a simple doctors office procedure while you'll have to be in the hospital.

A tubal ligation or vasectomy can be performed if you have NO children. This is a personal choice and there are no laws regarding this. There was a time when most doctors refrained from doing tubals on those females under 30 or those that did not have 2 children since the opinion was that their lives revolved around being mothers but this is no longer the case. Meantime it would appear that a large number of people have surgery without realizing that it is to be considered when you count the number of questions on here alone asking about reversals. Anyone choosing sterilization should consider it permanent and not reversible.

WELL...i do not think there is a law against having your tube tie after only one child. it is up to you. however,if you are very young the doctor may ask you to think about it because what you want now ,may not be what you want next five years.your husband may divorce you ,died etc ..then you may want other children.do not do it now and regret later. once it done that it. no point of return.

You can get your tubes tied or a man can get a vasectomy no matter how many children you have.

I have never heard of any rule like this in the US. You can get your tubes ties anytime you want to as far as i know....I would try looking up information on a medical website that deals with medical laws and things....
