What that is making reference to is on some older machines, there was a "jumper" setting to move and erase the contents and default the bios to factory defaults thus reason all passwords set on the bios. More than likely, the bios was reset and the jumper was never placed back in operational mode. If you can email me the make and model of the machine, I may be able to get you a more defined answer.

I don't believe this is making reference to your hard drive in that machine simply because the bios will never tell you to move a jumper for your hard drive. the bios is not that smart to detect jumper variables for other components.

Jumpers are use to enable or disable certain features of your motherboard... Now if you set the jumpers to normal setting, it means it is set to default...

Doing this things means you really need to refer to the motherboards manual. Each Motherboard Model have unique jumper settings that can only be refered to your motherboards manual (you really need the manual to set jumpers)

By the way, the processor has anothing to do with this....

You would have to look on the hard drive for the proper jumper settings for master.

on the back of the hard drive there is a jumper its maybe green or back or pink or red you must have that on the pins ,that say master then make sure that the data cable is right on the the hard drive on the data cable there is a pink line going down the 1 side it must be put on right when you put the data cable on make sure it is right in and the same at the other end where it goes on the motherboard, make sure you have remove the power cable to the pc befor doing this work
