I had surgery on my lower ribs 6.5 weeks ago, so now I have a 3.5 inch cut on both sides of my upper abdomen. I have read that Vitamin E will really heap to prevent scaring. So, I've been putting that on at night. During the day, I've been wearing Neosporin Scar Solution silicone strips. Some people have told me that the Curad Scar therapy works better though. And then of course there is Mederma, and Scar Fade solution. I feel confused as to what to do. Everybody is telling me different things, and I just want the best product for these cuts, and am trying to get as little scaring as possible. Does anybody have any experiences with any of these products, or suggestions for me? THANK YOU!

preventing scars vs. removing or reducing scars
preventing scars - do the things to not get scratched; no roughhousing or falling.
removing or reducing the effects of scars: aloe vera gelly, vitamin E oil, silicia gel, cocoa butter.

I personally have used TEA TREE OIL (I can't remember what the real name is).
It's very strong smelling, but HONESTLY!!!!!!!!!!!! IT WORKS.
I would apply it 2-3 times a day with a saturated cotton ball or cosmetic pad. If you're concerned about the little fibres, (once you get used to the smell and maybe a little stinging) just pour it directly on it.
It's an antiseptic/antibacterial natural item. Do not dilute it. Use it full strength, and trust me when i tell you, it will work. (i used it on a burn on my finger, and within a week a scar had formed and fallen off... you can't even tell i was burned!!! (while someone else with same burn used ointment, and hadn't yet a decent scar or healed wound anyway until 3 weeks later?)
oh yeah. If it can be open (your wound) leave it open with this stuff on it. It dries on it's own.
I used it also to heal my navel ring, any acne i get, any wounds, ummm.... my husband had REALLY BAD gravel rash on his leg from playing baseball and sliding into a base, used it one there, and neery a scar!!
I hope this helps!! Please just try it.
OH YEAH!!!
MELALUCA (spelling) is the leaf i believe?
Good luck!!!!
:o)

let it heal and i ve heard shea butter It's not possible to completely remove a scar, but a few treatments might help make your scars less noticeable:Onion Extract acts as an anti-inflammatory. Alpha Hydroxy Acids are natural fruit acids that are used to exfoliate (remove) dead skin cells.Silicone, available either as a gel or in rubber-like sheets, has been found to lighten and flatten scars good luck

There's a burn cream (prescription) caller Silvadeen (or something like that.) Worked great for me - I had 2nd and 3rd degree burns on my hands - no scars at all. Partially luck, but you need a moisturizer. Rubbing alcohol, nail polish remover, etc. DEhydrates - not a good idea. Vit. E (you can buy by the bottle) also works great. One bottle lasts forever. If you have any capsules, you can poke a pin hole in one end, and squeeze it out.

Vitamin E cream is great for making the scar tissue soft but Mederma works the best at making the scar fade. I had hip surgery.
