An award created by FIFA which is awarded to the player regarded by fellow professional players as the best player in the world, because voting is only for professional players. It is considered to be more valuable than the FIFA World Player Of The Year award because voting is open only to professional footballers, while the latter award is voted by journalists and coaches.
Zidane is considered probably because of some commanding displays at the 2006 world cup, and could also be because that he is one of the biggest name there is in the footballng world that, his name simply cannot be omitted from any nomination list of footballing award.

Italy's World Cup winning campaign has put 10 players in the running for the FifPro award, including Marco Materazzi.

Brilliant post Farah! I 'll say this, you're a true fan.
A true fan respects the opponent. In Italy, you'll never catch the coach of Milan saying he disrespects Inter or vice-versa.
You become good because of your opponents, the better they get, the more you have to strive, to overcome them.
