45 ways. he can first choose 1 chicken out of 10, so there are 10 ways; he can then choose the second chicken from the remaining 9, for 9 additional second choices for each of the first choice. So there are 90 choices. But choosing chicken A first and chicken B second is the same as choosing B first and A second. So half of the 90 choices are duplicative. Hence 45 choices.

you would see how many ways you could combine chicken A with all the others then B and so fourth so you would be adding
9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and that gives you a total of 45 ways

The number of ways to choose k objects from a set of n is given by the binomial coefficient

C(n,k) = n! / [k!(n-k)!]

In this case, n=10 and k=2, so you have

C(n,2) = 10! / [2!8!] = 8!*9*10 / [2*8!] = 9*10/2 = 45

so there are 45 ways.

the 1st with the rest= 9
the 2nd with the rest=8 (because the 2nd with the 1st was already)
the 3rd with the rest=7 (because 1-3 and 1-2 were already)

the 10 with the rest = 0 becasue we have that ones already there

the answer 9 + 8 + 7 + 6 + 5 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 45

i believe it's 10+9+8+7+6+5+4+3+2+1. (or 10!) if you go down the line of chickens and pair each one with each other chicken but with no repeats. i think this equals 55, if i added right. i could be completely wrong. it's been years since i've taken a math class.

About 90 or so, depending on how many leave while he is it eating the first.

10 choices for the first chicken, 9 for the second, product equals 90
