Yes, the CR500 is a 2 stroke and requires mixing 2 cycle oil with the gas. Honda recommends a mixture ratio of 32:1(That's 4 ounces of oil per gallon of gas). Use only top quality 2 cycle racing oil. Do not use cheap 2 cycle weedeater or chainsaw oil.

Yes, mix it before you put it in your gas tank. Shake the container around to fully mix it. Trying to mix it in your gas tank, the oil and gas won't get fully mixed.

40-1 ratio works better in all cr's, just check plug to make sure its not to lean, if it is white in color rejet and move clip on needle rather than mix richer. 32-1 is to rich and will foul plugs daily
