Depends on the woman. Some might be healthy and active and able to have one at 35 or 40 but some aren't. It just depends on the woman really. Usually around 35 is when it gets riskier.

Depends on the woman and the health care. If you are extremely fit and active and healthy, why not have a baby at 45? Also, make sure your health care will cover the excess costs of the other tests and that your doctor has adequate knowledge of later pregnancies. If your an average woman who at 40 needs to be in bed by 9pm and walking around the grocery store is enough exercise for you, maybe rethink it and adopt so it is healthy for you and child.

i think 35. at 35 the chances of having a baby with birth defects is higher at that age. they range from down syndrome to mental retardation.
i think after the age of 35 you should really stop and think about it a bit. i am not saying all women who are 35 + always have birth defects it is just the chances are higher.

after 35 the risk increases
I know someone who had one at 42
However, you will need to be closely monitored by your doctor. You are born with all your eggs and once you begin your period you release one each month untill they are gone. Everything bad you are ever exposed too (smoke, alcohol, anything) affects these eggs that are with you from birth and the older they get the less good they become. My aunt had a baby when she was 40 but the baby was born with all rotton teeth. Her adult teeth are fine though but there are more risks with older eggs.

For women, after 30 or 35 the risk for birth defects goes up. But I know women who have had healthy babies after 40.
For men, after 40 the risk for birth defects goes up.

40, after that age some people think it's selfish to think that people almost lived their whole life not having children and then wanting them. Plus the baby might be in danger later on in life

i thought your body would tell you that. They say that after 35 there is an increase in the risk for downs syndrome and other life altering behaviors like autism.
so maybe 35?

When you don't want anymore, or you CAN'T have anymore.
I had my first at 39.....I am 40 now. I will have more until I can't physically do it. (46?)
