If they were completely blind from birth it would be impossible for them to concieve of what something would look like. They could still dream but it would be different from the visual experience that sighted people often speak of.

If they were blinded at some point after birth, then yes, they would have visual dreams as their brain has something to relate with visually, even if only in memory. Most of us dream with our eyes closed anyway. d:c)

Hope this helps.

One research study showed that people who were blind from birth, then had their sight returned via corneal transplants as adults, could not recognize objects by sight. However, once they felt an object, like a ball, or chair, or whatever, they quickly became able to identify the object by sight. Most curious.

It seems hard to think of someone "seeing" in dreams if they have no visual reference to consider such as someone who was totally blind from birth.

Let us say the person was not blind when born, then the person will have really good memory of the things he/she saw when they had sight. An example of this is that when you are walking in the mall and you see an unfamiliar face and I ask you to mentally redraw the face you have just seen, then you will reconstruct it pretty nicely. But if I ask you to picture your father or mother's face or even your face which you have seen so many times, then you will keep making conflicting images until you make a satisfactory mental image. That was a great question. I wish one could ask a blind person what the dreams look like. But I believe that those who were born blind will have an extremely different picture of the world.

Excellent question. This depends on the blind man. If the person has been blind all of their lives then they really do not see, because seeing is interpreted by certain brain signals sent by the occipital lobe. If a person cannot transmit these signals, then no image therefore they dream using their other senses such as hearing. They can create scenarios in their mind due to how they view life and what it is that is bothering them, or what pleasures them. Dreams are all neural activity. If person is newly blind, then they can create images due to their prior knowledge of shapes and sounds so the brain will still be able to interpret brain signals into images so that they can still see, in their mind. These people still daydream and can see past memories replaying in their head. I hope this helps you or points you in the right direction.

Yes, I think blind people can see dreams, as they recognize things by touching. They build their memory by touching things and creating their own images of all the things they touch. With those memory, they walk on the roads and they do their daily work and while sleeping the unconcsious minds has all the collection of those images and that can come in their dream.

we all dream, dreams are created by regrouping and distorting memories, if sobebody became blind after being born those images that are in his memory will be part of the dreams, if that person has never seen anything his dreams will include what he perceives of the reality and the mental images that he has created of his environment

I'm not sure, but I would think it depends on whether or not they have ever seen before. If they have never seen then they hav no clue on what things look like and so they can not imagine in pictures. If they have seen b4 than yes, just because they can physicaly see, that doesnt mean they can not mentaly see, since they already kno what everything looks like. once again I am no expert, but I'm pretty sure i'm right.
