Colloids are more thermodinamically unstables systems than solutions.

The methods that can be used to separate colloidal systems can be:

Physical methods:

-Sedimentation (in the case of some suspensions)
-Centrifugation (suspensions and some sols)
-Drying (some gels)

Chemical methods:

-Precipitation (some sols)
-Adding a substance that change balance of electrical charge in the interfase of the componenets of colloid (sols, suspensions, aerosols, emulsions, foamings)

That is what I can remember about colloidal systems.

Good luck!
