Ie: does leaving pee in the toilet bowl for hours on end until someone has to go "Number 2" cause more germs to be in the air or on the toilet?

Urine from most people is sterile. As a matter of fact, in emergency situations urine has been used to wash dirt from wounds to prevent infection. What makes the smell from urine is something most bacteria do not like. The bacteria which can live from it (denitrifying) are not pathogenic to humans.

It's more of an aesthetic thing than a health issue.

Ugh my grandma did that... "you will run up the water bill" no grandma, the water bill is $17 funds each and every 3 months- flushing every time you pee would bump it as much as $18... we've a flush every time rule and a "women stay here so placed the seat down" rule.

Tho' not the healthiest routine....sometimes do to water conservation, you may not have a choice. You might want to investigate purchasing some environmentally friendly sanitizers to put in the toilet bowl between flushes.

You also have to make sure you clean the bowl regularly and thoroughly.

Always flush! I'm not sure about germs or whatnot, but it leaves a ring around the toilet. I keep telling my hubby that, but somehow the tinkle fairy leaves a yellow bowl every morning. :)

I would think so. urine does get all sticky when left alone. I would flush the toilet no matter what. that is gross.

If you can smell it it's in the air FYI. That's how smelling works, so if you can smell it I'd ditch that move.
