It depends: I usually make my beans from scratch so I do that in the crock pot. But if I am doing canned beans then I do them in the saucepan unless I am being extreamly lazy I will every once in a while do them in the microwave but thats rare.

Microwave for several reasons:-
It's easier to clean dried on food from plates used in a microwave than it is a saucepan
There's less to wash up afterwards as you eat from the same plate
Microwaves heat up the food far quicker and don't burn the bottom of it.
Providing you cover the food and it doesn't splatter, they do a pretty good job if you ask me

Normally, I'd use the microwave. But if I have lots of time or lots of guests, I'll use a saucepan on low (better taste in my humble opinion).

In a saucepan with a nob of butter, Delicious on toast with a bit of grated cheddar cheese on top. or a nob of butter, pinch of chilli powder and a glove of crushed garlic, with a nice slice of garlic bread. lovely
