I love watching Irish Dancers on Riverdance and always try to perform the steps. I was wondering if anybody knew a better way to learn Irish dancing for a beginner; only for interest as a hobby, but not professionally.

It takes years and years to learn to step. I have been doing it for more than 25 years and i still kick myself in the shins on a regular basis. If you truly want to learn, contact the nearest Irish social club, they usually offer lessons. Good luck and practice barefoot.

You know Grassy is an Irishman and loves to dance. Just put on some music. Maybe I could teach you a couple of steps. I am not to the level of sychronization as those dancers but nevertheless it is better to dance with the Irish than sit with the English.

check out some of the learn at home videos. Jean Buttler has an Irish Dance master class DVD/Video. You can purchase it on Amazon.com. She has a warm-up and explains the steps. Its not really a beginner video, but its good, and you can pause it and practice the steps at your own pace. You can also look up beginner videos.
