In IM go to preferences and make sure you are not archiving your messages. You can choose between not archiving and archiving for review but that will clear automatically when you sign out. Just remember, certain spyware programs will still log you so if you are worried about secrecy, best bet is not to do it. A secret shared is no longer a secret as the saying goes.

You could of been more precise. If there's someone else using the computer, uncheck that "Automatically sign in at start-up" when you sign in and don't leave signed in on Messenger when you leave the computer and don't leave the password written in the password field either.

Put a checkmark, in front of "sign in as invisible to everyone" and nobody will know you are online..
