Ive started playing my favourite sport again after years away from the game. Ive had some one to one coaching and now im playing better than ever. I want to enter a few tournaments to get some match play as i cant stand 'social' tennis at tennis clubs because im not there for a chat but rather im there to play and get deep into into tough gruelling matches. Now these tournaments only accept the top 40 entrants, as in ratings. Im a 6.2 so i do have a chance of getting in but what a strange situation?!!!! I suppose its because of the lack of available courts indoor this time of year!

IF I understand your question correctly you being 6 foot two does not enter into it. It is done by your birthday, For example are 14 you can play in the 14 and unders until January first. The USTA book will have plenty of open tournaments if the 6.2 refered to you rating. Sometimes the draws are big and you will have to play some qualies , especially level ones. If you have a few good wins you will get right in the main draw, Your USTA region should have the up to dat ranking right on line. If I completely fumbled this qustion IM or E-mail me and we can hash it out. Good players strart sometimes at their clubs , but move on fast with the exception your pros are great. Play as many Open tournaments as you can and practice a ton, not nescesarilly playing sets. Do your cross courts and , down the lines , play short court for your feet. Serve at cones.
