If the CD is not a rewritable disk, you cannot "erase" the disk. If it is a rewritable disk, just right click on the disk (using a CD-RW drive, of course) and then click on either "erase" or "delete data" (whatever your system calls it).
Not sure why you want to wipe everything off the disk, so here are answers based on some assumptions:
- If you want to wipe the disk so you can re-use it, the disk has to be a rewritable disk. If not, the disk is not re-usable.
- If you want to wipe the disk to hide or protect the data you have on it, you can erase a CD-RW (rewritable) disk but not a CD-R (recordable) disk. So, if this is a CD-R, just destroy the disk to protect the data on it. Break it into tiny pieces or burn it up. Make it unreadable.
Hope this helped.

1. If the CD is multisession
simply select the option of removing files from the compilation that are not on your disk (relocate the data on your disk). then burn the empty disk (you can place something if you want). Now the CD will contain only the new items (old ones will be removed.)
2. If it is not Multisession
The only hope you have is to use some home built tool that can write on the TOC, wiping it unreadable (but this will render the disk unusable). You will get something of that sort in some freak linux project. Please search. Chances are slim though.

You need a cd that is meant for rewriting. When you buy them look for CD-RW on the label then you will be able to rewrite them.
You wont be able to wipe them clean, only record over them
